A Frog's story - China

Once upon a time ....Reader! ah..ah.. I can read your thoughts. Please don’t skip. I made sure that this is a different story.

Once upon a time, there lived a man and a woman in a small village in China. The woman was expecting a child. After months, she gave birth to a healthy baby. The twist here is, it is not a boy or a girl but a frog. They took a very good care of their frog. It was a very clever Frog. He had a special gift. He can talk and even predict the future.

A frog story

One day, the frog said to his mom “Mom, we must go and see the king. This village and kingdom is about to be attacked!”

The father, mother and the frog went to king’s palace. The Palace guard’s didn’t allow them to meet the king. After convincing the guards finally they were in front of the King.

In the beginning, the King did not believe the frog. In the meanwhile a guard came running to the King and said “Your Majesty, an enemy army is here to attack us!

King asked for the frog’s help. The king promised him that if you defeat this army, then you can marry my daughter as a reward. The frog ordered the guards to bring 10 buckets of burning coals. He gulped it and stood near the palace‘s window and started spitting it “Oooohoff..ooohhhoff…” The enemies ran away and nobody was hurt.

The frog and his family went back home.

After few years, the frog and his family went to see the king. The king refused to give his daughter to the frog. The king said “I will give you one more chance. The princess will throw a golden ball to the handsome princes in the group; you can also stand with them. The prince who catches the ball will marry my daughter”.

Princess threw the golden ball; to everyone’s surprise the frog caught it.

The King said “I’m sorry, only a human can marry my daughter”

Hearing this, the Frog removed its skin and turned into a handsome man. The king was surprised to see the young man. He asked him “why did you hide yourself in this frog’s skin all this time?

The frog said I wanted to find out who can judge me for myself and not my appearance. And moreover this frog skin keeps me warm in winter and cool in summer.

The king said “Give that skin to me, let me try it”

The young man asked to give the King’s robe to him in exchange. The king wore the frog skin and the man dressed himself in the King’s robe.

When the king tried to take off the skin, he can’t remove it. The young man said we swapped places. The young man married the princess and ruled the kingdom wisely and kindly.  The frog stayed happily in the palace pond.

 The End

Goldy, a Friendly Fish

Nagapattnam, a place in Tamil Nadu is a coastal area. Most people do fishing for their survival. Early morning, fishermen get ready with their fishing rod, big wired nets, baskets, and other accessories which are needed for fishing. They also pack some food and drinking water as they don’t know when they will be back to home. In a small village in Nagapattam, there lived a fisherman named Mattu. Mattu was a tall, strong and dark man with short curly hair. He wears colorful dhoti and a white vest with a munda (a piece of cloth) tied as a turban to his head. By 3.00 am, he packed his things and left for fishing in deep sea. That day, the sea was very violent and stormy. Big waves raised up the yatch. His yatch was almost about to drown. He shouted for help, being in the middle of the sea. None could hear him in that strong wind. Mattu’s Yatch drowned. He held a piece of wood from the yatch and was floating. Back in the village, Liloo, Mattu’s daughter was worried that her father

Save every drop of water

It was a bright sunny morning. Golu woke up and stretched his hands with a slow “…yaaaahh….”. He got up from his bed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Without turning off the water tap, he was brushing his teeth for a long time and emptied the whole water tank in his house. When he was about to wash his mouth and brush he found that no water came from the tap. He tapped the tap’s top and turned the value from left to right and right to left. He was confused “I saw the water  coming a minute back, now what happened??” he thought scratching his head. He called his Grandfather “Grandpa! Grandpa! Please come here!” Golu’s grandfather hurriedly came to Golu’s room. He thought Golu  is  in trouble. Golu: “Grandpa, I was brushing my teeth and there is no water coming out of this tap. Is there a mistake with the tap?? Please check Grandpa” Grandfather thoroughly inspected the tap. The tap was perfect. He checked the water line pipes for leakage. It was good and in working
