Holi is Fun!

It was a holiday on regard to Holi festival. Ram and his friends, Vasu, Kuku, Bassi have planned to meet and celebrate Holi that evening. Ram asked his mother “Mom, please give me some money to buy balloons”

Mom looked “Money for balloons? But what are you going to do with balloons, Ram?”

Ram replied “Mom, I am going to fill it with colored water and throw them on my friends and play”

“When you threw it with force, won’t it hurt others?” Mom asks. Ram coolly said “Everyone will throw water balloons at other. I throw it too”

Mom started explaining “Ram, No, you should not do it. Holi is not celebrated by hurting others. It is a festival that should be celebrated with love. You are right! Holi is smearing colors at each other and play. It is a fair game! You can throw colors or splash water colors on the people in open streets. But if that game turns out to hurt others! It becomes unfair.”

Ram understood the point what his mother is trying to convey.

Ram waved hands to his mom and left the home to play with his friends.

In the park, Vasu, Kuku and Bassi filled colored water for 10 balloons and they were getting ready to throw it on people who come to the park. Just then a boy was riding his cycle and crossed the way. Vasu took a balloon and aimed the boy. Vasu threw the balloon at a speed. Thank God! It did not hit the boy.

Water balloon

Ram came running towards Vasu, Kuku and Bassi and said, “Guys! What are you doing? Why did you throw balloon at him?” Kuku turned towards Ram “playing as planned”.

“Friends, when a balloon explodes after hitting the body, it can cause injury” said Ram.

Kuku said “It is Fun. Isn’t it?”

“When someone is injured and is in pain, can we be happy? No, I can’t! My mother told me that festival is not celebrated by hurting others, it should be celebrated with love” Ram said to his friends.

Everyone understood Ram’s point. They threw the water balloons in the sky and it fell on the ground and broke. The kids got drenched in water.

They shouted Holi! Holi! Happy Holi!

Goldy, a Friendly Fish

Nagapattnam, a place in Tamil Nadu is a coastal area. Most people do fishing for their survival. Early morning, fishermen get ready with their fishing rod, big wired nets, baskets, and other accessories which are needed for fishing. They also pack some food and drinking water as they don’t know when they will be back to home. In a small village in Nagapattam, there lived a fisherman named Mattu. Mattu was a tall, strong and dark man with short curly hair. He wears colorful dhoti and a white vest with a munda (a piece of cloth) tied as a turban to his head. By 3.00 am, he packed his things and left for fishing in deep sea. That day, the sea was very violent and stormy. Big waves raised up the yatch. His yatch was almost about to drown. He shouted for help, being in the middle of the sea. None could hear him in that strong wind. Mattu’s Yatch drowned. He held a piece of wood from the yatch and was floating. Back in the village, Liloo, Mattu’s daughter was worried that her father

Save every drop of water

It was a bright sunny morning. Golu woke up and stretched his hands with a slow “…yaaaahh….”. He got up from his bed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Without turning off the water tap, he was brushing his teeth for a long time and emptied the whole water tank in his house. When he was about to wash his mouth and brush he found that no water came from the tap. He tapped the tap’s top and turned the value from left to right and right to left. He was confused “I saw the water  coming a minute back, now what happened??” he thought scratching his head. He called his Grandfather “Grandpa! Grandpa! Please come here!” Golu’s grandfather hurriedly came to Golu’s room. He thought Golu  is  in trouble. Golu: “Grandpa, I was brushing my teeth and there is no water coming out of this tap. Is there a mistake with the tap?? Please check Grandpa” Grandfather thoroughly inspected the tap. The tap was perfect. He checked the water line pipes for leakage. It was good and in working
