Roopa, The Angry Bird

 By Shareena

Roopa is a short tempered girl and becomes angry for silly little things. She has a little brother named Akhil. On a fine day, Roopa went to market and she found a beautiful attractive flower vase in a shop. She immediately bought it without a second thought.

Roopa spoke to herself “Wow! What a lovely colorful vase it is, hand crafted mirror works all over it, and its shining, I should be proud of having it in my home”. She went back home carrying it carefully.

She showed the vase to her mom and put it on a wooden table in her living room and went away to do her home work.

There comes her little naughty brother Akhil, carrying a toy airplane. Loudly making a sound brrr..brrrr…imagining the airplane is running up and down in the air. And the Airplane rounded the table and came near the vase. Dasshhhhhhhh…..the plane hit the vase and the vase fell and  broke into pieces.

Hearing the sound, Roopa came running out of her room. Her face turned red and she started shouting at Akhil. Poor Akhil doesn’t know what to do and was standing there in a frozen state hearing the scolds from his sister.

After listening to those words from Roopa. Amma came out of kitchen with a mirror in her hand. Amma said “ Roopa! Here look at yourself in the mirror and tell me how you feel”.

Roopa got the mirror from Amma looked her face. It was red with wide opened eyes and cranky lips which was so ugly.

She was shocked to see her own reflection and started crying.

Amma said “Roopa, your name means beautiful, being angry makes your face look ugly and frustrated. Please stop being angry and start to think before shouting at someone. This vase was broken accidently. Anger will spoil our health and also makes us regret later for shouting at that moment.

Roopa!  You are a beautiful girl, but your inner beauty (calmness, kindness) will reflect on your face.

Amma went inside the kitchen to continue her work.

Anger

Moral: Postpone your anger, be patient at that moment. You will never regret later.

Mira told her mom, “Thiyash is mean and selfish too. Why do we need to share him sweets made in our home, Ma” Mom replied “Today is new year. I want you to forget all the old arguments and start to be nice from today or you will get bad luck, remember!” Mira wore a beautiful blue lehenga which had golden lotus and pink flowers embroidered on it.   She wore pink chanbali earrings and was all ready to meet her neighbors. Mira’s mom handed her a plate with 3 laddus, 3 murkkus, 3 vada and a small bowl of kheer. Mira walked carrying this plate to her neighbors’ home. She knocked at the door. No one answered.
