Three Foolish Thieves

 By Shareena

Tenali Raman was a wise minister in Vijayanagar Kingdom. Water scarcity hits his place. Tenali had a well in his home but it doesn’t have any water in it.

Tenali called his son and said “Son, there is no water in our well. We need water to survive, why don’t we dig this well deeply so that we can get more water”.

Son said “Ok father, but how do we do it”.

At that time Tenali Raman heard three thieves speaking to each other.

Now Tenali got an idea and he said to his son loudly “Let’s bring that big box of gold and hide it in the well so that no one can find it”.

This plan was overheard by the three thieves.

tenali raman story

Tenali and his son filled the box with stones and rocks and brought it out of their home and hid it under a bush. Tenali made sure that the thieves watched them carrying the box from the house. And he and his son went back to sleep.

Meanwhile the three thieves said “This Tenali is a fool, it’s a big jackpot for us. Let us take this box of gold out of the well and share it among us”. The three thieves were so happy and excited to steal the Gold.

Once it was midnight and the whole city was sleeping. The three thieves came out of their hiding place and started digging the well.

They digged, digged and digged….and finally they were exhausted, but couldn’t find the box in the well.

The sky slowly brightened up.

The head of the gang said “If we stay here, we will get caught by others and I can’t get those beatings from them. Let us run away and we can plan this later”

Next Morning, Tenali came out and saw the well was dug. Now he could see the water coming out from the well. He happily shared it with the people in his city.

Nagapattnam, a place in Tamil Nadu is a coastal area. Most people do fishing for their survival. Early morning, fishermen get ready with their fishing rod, big wired nets, baskets, and other accessories which are needed for fishing. He shouted for help, being in the middle of the sea. None could hear him in that strong wind. Mattu’s Yatch drowned. He held a piece of wood from the yatch and was floating. Back in the village, Liloo, Mattu’s daughter was worried that her father...

Save every drop of water

It was a bright sunny morning. Golu woke up and stretched his hands with a slow “…yaaaahh….”. He got up from his bed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Without turning off the water tap, he was brushing his teeth for a long time and emptied the whole water tank in his house. When he was about to wash his mouth and brush he found that no water came from the tap. He tapped the tap’s top and turned the value from left to right and right to left. He was confused “I saw the water  coming a minute back, now what happened??” he thought scratching his head. He called his Grandfather “Grandpa! Grandpa! Please come here!” Golu’s grandfather hurriedly came to Golu’s room. He thought Golu  is  in trouble. Golu: “Grandpa, I was brushing my teeth and there is no water coming out of this tap. Is there a mistake with the tap?? Please check Grandpa” Grandfather thoroughly inspected the tap. The tap was perfect. He checked the water line pipes for leakage. It was good ...
