Lazy Donk-Donk Donkey

Old Mac Donald had a big farm, where he grew many ducks, goats, horses, hens, pigs and donkeys.

Kids story

Among the other animals, two donkeys were best friends. One’s name is Donk-Donk and other donkey’s name is Kim. Donk-Donk is a very lazy donkey. Donk-Donk will graze the fresh green grass and sleeps all the time in the farm. He spent his time happily without doing any work in the farm.

Kim is very hardworking. Every morning he woke up early, once the maid untie his rope, he will start his daily routine by carrying bundles of straws from the field to  Mac Donald’s barn yard. Each day was a very tiring day for him. When he returns back to his stable, he will eat the dried grass and goes to sleep.

One sunny day, Kim became very tired after carrying bundles of goods under the very hot sun. He was sweating and dizzy as if he was about to faint and fall. But Kim somehow managed to go back to the stable and lay down. Seeing the tired Kim, Donk-Donk said “I feel so pity for you”.

Kim replied “It is my job that I should do all these works every day or I will be punished by the maid”.

Donk- Donk smiled and said “Look at me, how happily I am enjoying my life. You too can try to be like me and enjoy your life”.

Kim said “Yes! I also wanted to do no work but stay in the stable and relax the whole day. Can you tell me the secret to be free without doing any work?”

Donk-Donk started to reveal his secret “When the maid comes and untie the rope, stand there without moving. Even if she beats you with the stick, never move. The maid would get tired and leave you and she will go for work. This is the trick I use every day to stay and leisurely spend my time ”.

“This is a very simple trick. Okay, let me try this tomorrow and see how it works for me” said Kim.

Donk-Donk wished him success.

The next day morning, the maid arrived to unleash the animals and take them for work. She released the cows, goats, sheep and horses. Lastly, she came to untie the donkey’s ropes. As usual Donk-Donk sat in his place and didn’t move a step even though he got whipped by the maid. But to the maid’s surprise Kim was also lying down and didn’t move. The maid brought a big stick to beat him and make him get up and go for work. Kim didn’t make a move, he was very adamant and sat for a while. The maid tried in  different ways by pushing him, pouring water on his body. Nahhh…Kim didn’t move.

The maid went to Mac Donald and said “Sir, I cannot make Kim move from the stable. I don’t know what happened to him, he is lying in the stable very adamantly”.

Mac Donald answered “That’s fine, leave him today, let him take rest. Now you go and bring that lazy Donk-Donk for work. He is the one who sleeps all the day without doing any work. Hence, today is his turn”.

The maid fed Kim with a bundle of green grass and dragged Donk-Donk from the stable and put him to work.

Donk-Donk was sad thinking that his happy life was gone, because of sharing his secret with Kim. Donk-Donk was made to carry all the harvest that was bundled from the field to Mac Donald’s barn yard.

Moral: When you do something bad, it finds its way back to you later. So teach good things, good way of living, good habits to others. And please don’t take your decisions on the advice of those who don’t have to deal with your results.

The Pan and the Potatoes By Kirsi Kunnas

Phew! I’m sweating and steaming I feel like screaming I’m bubbling and seething I’m rattling like tea-things The pan said took his hat off his head and Phew! I’m absolutely boiling I’m bristling and whistling and hustling and moiling And all hot and sizzling It’s a mad mad bustle The pan said took its hat off its head and Phew! Ouch this hoppity, hoppity, hoppity Shouted the potatoes, popping up fit to split No way of stopping it, dropping it, swapping it dancing a polka, have to, dance, dancing a polka Got to go higher now, shoes are on fire now Galloping, galloping, off at a lollop Jumping and jumping and off at a wallop Turning and thumping, thumping and turning Oh this knocking and bumping and socking Off again copping it, hopping it, whopping it makes me split No way of stopping it!   This poem sings about how the potatoes are feeling when they are boiled in a pan. The potatoes say that they are very angry and wanted to scream becaus...
