Ghost in Apple printed Outfit

Once there was a big haunted house with many ghosts. Have you seen a ghost? Ghosts cover themselves with a clean old white sheet of cloth. Ah..Then that's a ghost.

Roger was the youngest ghost among his large family. He had a father, mother, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandfathers and grandmothers. The only common thing among them is, all wear the same white sheets every day, every night, every summer, every winter and in every rainy season.

But for Roger, he wears a small white sheet compared to others.

Roger’s family was busy frightening everyone in the neighborhood, because it’s their night job. Roger being the smallest of them had no job and felt left out alone.  He thought no one cares or notice him.

He thought that nobody could notice him because he was also wearing the same white sheet like them. Or they don’t find him interesting. Roger wanted his family to notice him. He gave a thought about changing his name to Tom cruise or Will Smith. But he said “I have the same family members. Even if I change my name, they won’t notice me and I should announce them about my name change through Whatsapp or Insta…ahh….and that’s a complete waste of time”.

Roger said to himself “Why don’t I change my looks?”. That’s a good idea - bulb glowed.

He went to his aunt’s wardrobe and tried on different hats. He put one hat on top of another and another and another. It looked like Pisa tower on his head. When he tried to move in the air, all the hats flew away.

“Bad idea” Roger said.

He moved on to the next shelf in the wardrobe. There were many colorful shawls and scarves. Striped, polkas, checkered and floral patterned. Roger tried all the scarves but when he moved it got stuck to the curtain rods, fan blades, chandeliers and door handles. He felt scarves and shawls were a “Bad idea”.

Roger saw a beautiful Poncho with yellow and green zig zag lines. He remembered that his aunt bought it from Mexico. Roger took the poncho and kept it with him.

The next morning instead of the white sheet he wore the colorful poncho. He wore a yellow  hat on his head, a red scarf on his neck like and added a blue bow to the poncho. He saw himself in the mirror and he said “Now I look beautiful…I wanted to show this new look to my family” and added “ From now on they will notice me”.

In the dining, Roger proudly appeared in front of everyone. His family was shocked seeing him in the new look. Aunt Emalda asked “Dear! Where is your white sheet?”

Uncle Tom said, “Roger, go and get changed”

Roger’s mom and dad said “Son, you cannot wear these and go out. Ghost doesn’t dress up like this”.

Roger told them “But I like it and I will wear this”.

Roger thought “I should not be here and nobody understands me. Maybe I should go to a place where people understand me and have a better fashion sense”.

Thinking about fashion, Roger flew to Milan, Italy. He stood in between a crowded road waiting for people to notice him and his fashionable clothes. But people were busy with their works and they had no time to see him.

Roger felt upset and more lost than he experienced in his home.

Roger went back to his home. On the way back, he lost his hat, scarf, bow and poncho. His parents and the whole family welcomed him back. They hugged and kissed him. When his mom found him that he lost all his accessories and poncho, she got a new white sheet and made Roger wear it.

Roger was not happy with this white sheet again. He again tried to change his look. He wore an old dusty rug around him and started sneezing “Aaaaachhhooooo”

He wore his mom’s handbag upside down. His mom scolded him for breaking all the makeup items which she kept inside the bag.

Roger tried on a table cloth which made him smell like peas gravy.

Next he pulled out the shower curtain and it was damp. It was all a disaster.

Roger, the small ghost became very angry. When a ghost becomes angry, the things around will fly. The furniture, food, vessels, candle stand, photo frames moved, cupboard doors will open and close.

In that chaos, an old bed sheet flew and fell on him. He remembered it, when he was a baby he hugged and cuddled the apple printed bed sheet, when he slept. It was his favorite one.

He saw him on the mirror wearing the apple printed bed sheet, it was good and comfy. Roger wanted to show this new outfit to his family who were watching a movie in the living room.

Roger flew and stood in front of the television hiding the screen and said to his family members “I like this outfit and I don’t want to wear the same white sheets like you do. I am going to be different”.

His whole family loved Roger’s apple printed sheet look.

Now, his family started wearing different accessories and each of them looked different.

Bye bye to the Old White Sheet.

Moral: Don’t be afraid of being different. Be afraid of being the same as everyone else.

The Pan and the Potatoes By Kirsi Kunnas

Phew! I’m sweating and steaming I feel like screaming I’m bubbling and seething I’m rattling like tea-things The pan said took his hat off his head and Phew! I’m absolutely boiling I’m bristling and whistling and hustling and moiling And all hot and sizzling It’s a mad mad bustle The pan said took its hat off its head and Phew! Ouch this hoppity, hoppity, hoppity Shouted the potatoes, popping up fit to split No way of stopping it, dropping it, swapping it dancing a polka, have to, dance, dancing a polka Got to go higher now, shoes are on fire now Galloping, galloping, off at a lollop Jumping and jumping and off at a wallop Turning and thumping, thumping and turning Oh this knocking and bumping and socking Off again copping it, hopping it, whopping it makes me split No way of stopping it!   This poem sings about how the potatoes are feeling when they are boiled in a pan. The potatoes say that they are very angry and wanted to scream becaus...
